The NCCs ended how most of Kokomo’s tournaments did this year… with Kokomo winning two matches and losing two matches.
Kokomo won handily against Arsenal Tech 25-4 and 25-7. Next, the Lady Kats faced Richmond, losing the first game 24-26 winning the second 25-18.The third set was tied early, but with a Wildkat injury Kokomo struggled to pull out the third set losing 8-15.
Next match brought a Kokomo versus Anderson matchup. We won 25-16 and 25-23. That brought Muncie Central to the court. With this being the fourth match and no time off to rest, Kokomo fought hard but struggled to find the energy to win against the home team, losing a three-set match 25-23, 23-25, and 18-20.
Malori Nichols led the weekend with 30 kills, 32 digs, and three aces. Jannessa Reece and Abby Hansen both tallied 19 kills behind Nichols. Reece also added three aces and 38 digs on the weekend. Brooke Hughes tallied eight kills and four digs.
Setter Correll Heath set the offense for 84 assists along with adding six kills, seven aces, and 16 digs. Sophomore Keihera Lang added four kills and one block. Jalynn Warden, Mia Federspill, and Dani Tate all added two kills. Warden added 24 digs; Federspill tallied seven aces as well as six digs. Tate also contributed three digs and six aces in the four matches. Middle back defenders Jada-Claire Broomfield and Sarah Stonebraker each added four aces and had 28 digs and 30 digs, respectively. Leah Schliesmann also added one kill this past weekend.
Looking forward, Kokomo will be preparing for their sectional match this coming Saturday.
