Wildkats Advance 5 to Fort Wayne
The Wildkat wrestlers had an excellent day on the mats at Maconaquah High School on Saturday. The Kats took 10 wrestlers to the Mac Regional and left with five wrestlers moving on to the Fort Wayne Semi-State.
The Kat place winners were paced by freshman regional champion Chad Washburn at 195 pounds. Kymani Howard (170 pounds) earned runner-up honors. Harvey Barr (113) and Jaquan East (182) brought home third place finishes, while Myles Lenoir (145) extended his season by earning a fourth place finish.
Harvey, Myles, and Kymani will be making a return trip to Fort Wayne. This will be the first trip for Chad and Jaquan.
We are proud of seniors Jakobe Sparger and Sam Baity that fell short, but their legacy has been impactful. Sophomores Kacey Coak, Kyan Gamble, and Brady Stump will be competing at Freshman/Sophomore State in two weeks!
Individual Results
113 Harvey Barr 3rd
145 Myles Lenoir 4th
170 Kymani Howard 2nd
182 Jaquan East 3rd
195 Chad Washburn 1st
Next week the Kats will battle at Memorial Colosseum to earn a spot in the state finals at Bankers Life. In order to advance, the wrestlers will have to win their first two semi-State matches.
Stay safe and healthy!
