The Lady Wildkats won over Northwestern Tuesday night in five sets. Kokomo lost the first set 19 – 25, won the next set 25 – 23, and lost the third set soundly 15 – 25. We rallied and won the fourth set 25- 15. The last and final set went 19 – 17 with Kokomo earning the win.
Freshman Abby Hansen led the hitting charge with 18 kills for Kokomo. Middle hitter Jada Claire Broomfield tallied eleven kills on the night as well as nine digs. Left sides Malori Nichols and Jannessa Reece provided seven and eight kills, respectively, with three digs and one ace each as well. Brooke Hughes added four kills and one ace to the night.
Correll Heath contributed three kills and 50 assists on the night. Defender Sarah Stonebraker added an ace with her seven digs, and Jalynn Warden also donated three digs to the Kokomo win.
Through the match, the Kokomo Lady Wildkats stayed poised and adapted well to Northwestern’s play. Near the end, both sides kept the ball off the floor with scrappy plays.
Kokomo is hoping to build on last night’s success Thursday against Lewis Cass at home.
