Last night Haworth Gym and its fans were able to see an exciting second set comeback from the Lady Kats volleyball team.

After winning the first set 25 – 18, the Lady Kats found themselves down 24 – 20 in the second set. Jada Claire Broomfield stepped up to the serving line, undaunted, and ready to make an impact. The team focused on keeping Jada Claire serving and keeping their hopes for a second set win alive. Kokomo made some quick adjustments and used their mental experience to pull through 26 – 24. Strong serving played a large part in the third set as well. The final set tallied 25 – 15 with Kokomo winning in three.

Clutch server Jada Claire Broomfield earned five kills, three aces, and 18 digs on the night. Not to be outdone, fast-moving setter Correll Heath earned five kills, five aces, twelve digs, and 32 assists. Solid senior Malori Nichols added two aces, nine kills, and 19 digs.

Aggressive freshman hitter Abby Hansen earned six kills and one block to add to Kokomo’s offensive totals for the night. Senior hype-man Jannessa Reece added four kills, one ace, and six digs to the left side. Junior Brooke Hughes made an impact on the right side with three kills, one ace, and four digs. The defensive dynamite duo, Sarah Stonebraker and Jalynn Warden added eight and four digs. respectively. Freshman Dani Tate also earned one defensive dig to finish out the third and final set.

Not only did the varsity Lady Wildkats win against Elwood, but so did the JV Lady Wildkats.

Jordan Thatcher and Mia Federspill both earned three kills on the night. Keihera Lang and Leah Schleismann earned two kills, while Dani Tate and Alyseea Thompson earned one kill. Emma Merrell added to the Lady Wildkats offense with one ace.

The Lady Wildkats won 25 – 8 and 25 – 14.

The Lady Wildkats C-team also played at home last night. They ended up losing in two sets but improved greatly throughout the match.
