The Lady Katfish swam to a second place finish at the North Central Conference meet on Saturday.
The ladies started off the meet by winning the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Reckard, Hawkins, Wilson, and Lucas gained the lead on the breaststroke leg and held off Harrison to win by over a second and a half.
Reckard won the 100 Free, swimming a lifetime best of 55.11. Macee also finished second in 100 backstroke. Hawkins ran away with the 100 breaststroke, winning by over five seconds while finishing runner up in the 200 IM with a lifetime best 2:17.79. Lucas came in second in the 100 breaststroke with a personal best time of 1:13.66. Emily and Jenaka were the only teammates that went first and second in an event. Kaitlyn McGraw dove to a runner-up finish in the 11-dive format meet.
Other Top 16 finishers and point scorers for the ladies were Stormy Blake in the 200 IM and 100 breast, Kendra Cline in the 200 IM and 100 Fly, Griggs in 200 free and 500 free, Hillman in the 200 free and 500 free, Lily Johnson in the 50 free and 100 fly, Lucas in the 50 free, Julynne Spidell in the 100 free, Wilson in the 100 fly and 100 back, and Rilyn Wonnell in the 500 free and 100 back.
The ladies had a great attitude going into this meet, and were able to swim very well considering we only rested for a couple of days.
The ladies have two dual meets this week- with Lewis Cass on Tuesday and Oak Hill on Thursday. Sectionals are just around the corner, and we’ll be fine tuning things over the coming weeks so we can swim lights out on February 4thand 6th.
