Sophomore Julynne Spidell and junior Jaylee Copeland individually advanced to the regional meet next Saturday at the Culver Military Academy.

Julynne was the overall winner in a time of 20:17. This was a great way for Julynne to start off the IHSAA tournament, and I know she is focused on making a deep run in the tournament. She led the race from start to finish controlling the pace and really breaking the race open during the hilly second mile in the “berry patch”. Julynne has built an amazing cardiovascular base and now I am excited to see how her body responds to some more intense training over the next few weeks.

Our second finisher for the Lady Kats was Jaylee with a time of 23:35 for 29thplace and was one of ten individuals to qualify for the regional meet at Culver next Saturday. I am so excited for Jaylee to qualify for the regional in her first season of cross country. She has not been even close to 100 percent over the last month of the season, but she has kept a positive attitude and focus to get to this point. The future is bright for Jaylee in this sport.
