Kokomo traveled to face a very solid Lapel squad in a match that we knew was going to be dogfight. This proved to be the case. The Kats dropped a close 3-2 match losing both doubles in three sets.
Jon Callane and Ty Lauderbaugh came out and struck quick in their matches to take the Kats up to a 2-0 team lead. Jon won by the score of 6-0, 6-1 and Ty by the score of 6-3, 6-1.
Lapel would strike next taking #2 singles in straights. Taylor Duncan fought and played a tighter second set than the first, but struggled to get things going. Likely a little letdown after such a long, exciting, and high quality match Tuesday night versus Lafayette Jeff.
The doubles teams showed moments of brilliance but couldn’t muster the enthusiasm and energy to match their opponents in the thirds. Lapel would take #2 doubles in three sets to level the match with #1 doubles following shortly for the Lapel win.
The JV struggled to win some tight ones also creating a 5-5 team tie. A JV team tie was actually the case Tuesday night against Jeff as a JV match we won went unreported. Winners on the night included Jayleb Walsh and Andrew Guerre in singles and the doubles teams of CJ Washburn/Ari Leger, Kye Gamble/Lucas Cummings and Linkin Brock/Seth Carpenter.
The varsity moves to 10-6 on the season and the JV 10-4-2.
