We’ve been waiting for a night to fire on all cylinders, and last night we were so close at Logansport. The Kats played strong tennis winning by the score of 4-1 and almost took it in a sweep.
Logan opted to put their #1 singles player in doubles last night and beefed their lineup for doubles play. This dropped their normal #1 doubles team down to #2 doubles.
The #2 duo of Jacob Walker and Brandon Hanson didn’t let it faze them and played outstanding tennis. Jacob and Brandon came out hot and won the first set 6-2 but ended up dropping the second set in a tight 7-5 contest. In the third, Logan kept their momentum and won the final set by a break of serve. Even though the guys did not come out on top in this match Jacob and Brandon played well and keep getting better and better!
In the other four matches the Kats were dominant and only dropped a few games in each of the matches.
Jon Callane won 6-0, 6-0 at #1 singles, Taylor Duncan won 6-1, 6-2 at #2 singles and Ty Lauderbaugh won by the score of 6-1, 6-3. The #1 doubles tandem of Miki Sanchez and Drew Swain were also dominant in their 6-1, 6-2 victory.
The JV also continued their outstanding play winning by the score of 8-2. Singles winners included Jayleb Walsh, Andrew Guerre, and Kye Gamble. Doubles winners included Caleb Wallace/Isaac Elkin, C.J. Washburn/Ari Leger, Lucas Cummings/Karson Parrott, Drake Hester/Austin Ferraro, and Eric Swain/Alan Dockemeyer.
The varsity moved to 8-3 on the season and the JV 9-2.
The boys will be back in action this weekend at the KHS Invite. State ranked Delta and West Lafayette will bring some heat to the event along with my alma mater, the Lebanon Tigers. Come out and support the Kats!!!
