The Wildkats hosted conference foe Harris on and put forth a valiant effort against the vaunted Raiders.
The Wildkats struggled to maintain possession for any length of time in the match, but were very organized defensively. The Wildkats held the Raider attack scoreless for the first 39 minutes of play, allowing a goal off of a corner kick to end the first half.
The Wildkats thwarted several more Raider forays into the attacking third of the field, but conceded three more dead ball goals, one off a penalty kick just beyond the outstretched hand of sophomore netminder Joey McConnell, and two others off of corner kick restarts. Though the score finished 5-0 in favor of the Raiders, the Wildkats competed and kept the match close well into the second half of play.
The man of the match was McConnell, who registered 15 saves on the day. McConnell has registered 121 saves on the season thus far.
The Wildkats (0-7-0, 0-4-0) travel to Logansport Thursday where they will try to slow down state scoring leader Juan Perez, complete conference play with a victory, and establish their seeding in the conference tournament which begins Saturday.
