The Wildkats hosted conference foe McCutcheon and played a strong first half before falling to the Mavericks, suffering their fifth consecutive loss to open the season.
The Wildkats changed their lineup due to both injury and availability heading into this match and kept the game close into the second half of play. After conceding a pair of goals in the first 25 minutes of the match, the Wildkats frustrated the Maverick attack and drew within a goal on senior midfielder and co-captain Cole Scheiman’s first tally of the season. It was the first goal the Wildkats had scored in the run of play all season.
Moments before halftime, the Mavericks managed to put one more tally past the Wildkats to build a 3-1 lead they would not relinquish. The final score was 7-1.
The men of the match were senior co-captain Bryan Stoltzfus, who has continued to play solidly at center back, and sophomore co-captain Joey McConnell, who registered 22 saves on the day. McConnell has registered 96 saves on the season thus far.
The Wildkats (0-5-0, 0-2-0) travel to Lafayette Jefferson Thursday night, September 10th, for their third conference match of the season.
