The Kats got their first conference win of the 2020 season on Friday night against McCutcheon High School. The final score was 28-23.

It was another game where we were out-gained in total yards but came out on top instead of the latter. The Wreck’N Crew held strong again holding the Mavs to only 55 rushing yards which ended up being the difference.

Offensively we were led by Plez Lawrence again with 19 carries and 118 yards and a touchdown. The other three scores came from Dashaun Coleman, Ta’Shy Stewart, and Torian Smith. Torian’s touchdown came via the air giving Evan Barker his third touchdown pass on the year. Ta’Shy and Dashaun’s both came on the ground in the fourth quarter on fourth down in crucial points in the game.

The offensive line play was vastly improved from last week’s performance against Marion. Leading the way up front was Mitchell Van Horn, Sam Baity, Bronson Smith, Noah Smalley, Amir Cummings, Bryson Shoemaker, and George Montes.

Defensively the Kats were led by a strong effort by Myles Lenoir, Stewart, and Coleman. Those three registered a total of 27 tackles combined. The defense continues to play fast and stingy while playing assignment football.

We will look to follow up another good effort this week against a high powered Lafayette Jeff offense.

We hope to see everyone at Jeff High School this Friday for our Week 5 contest. We have appreciated the support and the awesome atmosphere each and every game so far. Thank you! And GO KATS!
