The Kokomo Lady Kats girls soccer team wrapped up their 2025 campaign with a hard-fought and inspirational effort in the IHSAA Class 3A Sectional 7 Tournament opener against the Harrison Lady Raiders. The final score was 0-9, but the game was a powerful showcase of the team's tremendous growth, tenacity, and teamwork throughout the season. The Lady Kats faced an aggressive, high-powered Harrison offense, but found a bedrock of resistance in senior goalkeeper Aiyana Cox. Cox delivered a heroic and historic performance in her final game, recording an astounding 23 amazing saves. The defensive unit, playing with remarkable positive energy and communication, managed to hold the Lady Raiders to a 3-0 lead at halftime. This defensive effort was a testament to the team's ability to unite and battle against a superior opponent. The back line, featuring Izzy Riggs, Karla Giler, Elaina Gibson, and Cox, played every minute with unrelenting tenacity. Jay’Onna Spratt was a breakout performer, executing on defense while emerging as a crucial positive leader on the field. In the second half, the Lady Kats refused to yield, embodying their season-long theme of putting the team before themselves. The girls left it all on the field, despite the mounting pressure. The midfield fought tirelessly, with Euna Kim, Gisella Herrera, Mattie Rayl, and Nevaeh Wilson covering the middle of the field and challenging every Harrison possession. Up top, Patience Rowles and Jackie Cuatlacuatl worked to apply pressure, while Bailee Vasquez, Isa Duncan, and Kameya McClatchey played hard on the outside. Unfortunately, the persistent pressure from Harrison resulted in a late-game surge, with a few final-minute scores pushing the final tally to 0-9. While the season concludes with the tournament loss, the focus remains on the immense progress made and the special character of this squad. We are immensely proud of every single Lady Kat. The team's growth didn't always show on the scoreboard, but the tenacity of this group is special. The team will dearly miss the five graduating seniors—Aiyana Cox, Patience Rowles, Jackie Cuatlacuatl, Nevaeh Wilson, and Ashanti Jackson—whose dedication and leadership have set a strong foundation. The future is bright for this special group of ladies. Go Kats!
