The Lady Kats turned in a strong team performance at the 2025 North Central Conference Championship, finishing 3rd overall in the team standings. Sophomore Alaina Thompson led the way for Kokomo with an impressive 5th-place finish and a time of 21:38, earning All-NCC honors for her effort. Thompson’s consistency and leadership at the front of the pack helped pace the team to its top-three finish. Seniors Christina Durham and Macy Rakestraw both stepped up with big personal records, running 23:54 and 24:18 respectively to close out their final NCC meet on a high note. Seniors Morgan Rakestraw and Gretchen Riggle rounded out the scoring for the Lady Kats, helping secure the team’s 3rd-place position. Also contributing strong performances were Alice Cooper, Allaina Helmberger, Claire Callane, Bethany Burns, Teagan Dalton, Grace Lake, and Maddie Armstrong, who each had solid races and added depth to the Kokomo lineup. The team now has two weeks to prepare for the Logansport Sectional on October 18th, as they look to continue their momentum and qualify from the sectional to the regional. Overall, it was a proud day for the Kokomo girls’ cross country program, showcasing both veteran leadership and promising youth as the postseason begins.
