The Wildkats concluded their regular season, dropping a decision to their county rival, the Western Panthers, by a score of 2-0. In a game where the Kats dominated possession and shots, the Panthers capitalized on a few good opportunities to take the win. After the Wildkats surrendered a corner kick in the first three minutes of play, they settled into the match and started to possess the ball moving into their attacking half more often. However, Western’s opportunistic attack produced a goal in the seventh minute for a 1-0 lead. From that moment, the Kats gradually exerted control over the game for long stretches. Lead by junior midfielder Enzo Beber Zemberlun, the Wildkats dominated possession, holding the ball in their attacking half for much of the remainder of the first half, but could not break through the Panther defense. In the second half, the Kats once again dominated possession and chances, but conceded a second goal with eight minutes remaining on another Panther counter. Your man of the match is Enzo Beber Zemberlan who lead the team in shots and chances created. The Wildkats (3-11-1, 0-5-0) conclude the regular season and begin sectional play Monday night at 7 pm versus Harrison. The sectional is being hosted by Logansport this year. In the junior varsity game, the Wildkats succumbed to the same fate in a similar style. A critical error in front of goal lead to a 1-0 Panther lead which they would hold until halftime. After the half, the Kats (4-5-2, 2-1-2) played well and created multiple scoring chances, none better than the penalty kick they missed. The Panthers scored a second goal late in the second half on a counter attack, and won the match 2-0.
