Lady Kats Show Improvement at Brownsburg

The Kokomo High School girls cross-country team turned in a strong performance at the Brownsburg Invitational, placing 23rd in a highly competitive meet that featured several state-ranked programs. Sophomore Alaina Thompson led the Lady Kats with a standout race, clocking a personal-record time of 21:15 to pace the team. Senior Morgan Rakestraw delivered a season-best effort, finishing in 23:58, while fellow senior Christina Durham recorded a personal best of 24:26. Kokomo also saw impressive improvements from its underclassmen. Junior Makyila Rubush and senior Macy Rakestraw both ran personal-record times, crossing the line in 24:56 and 25:06, respectively, to round out the scoring for the Lady Kats. Despite the tough competition, Kokomo showcased growth and resilience, with multiple athletes achieving career-best performances. The team will look to continue its progress at its next meet, scheduled for next Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.
