Wildkats Struggle Against Huskies, Fall 1-0

By Aaron Blessing | Sep 5, 2025 6:01 AM

The Kokomo Wildkats hosted non conference foe Hamilton Heights and dropped a close one to the visitors by a score of 1-0 Thursday night. In a match in which both teams struggled to control tempo and possession, the Kats came up short on both ends of the pitch. Although neither team dominated possession, the pace of the Huskies caused the Kats problems and lead to the only goal of match. When a Wildkat defender struggled to control the ball at the top of the box, a Husky attacker raced in to apply pressure, took possession of the ball, and slotted home what would be the only goal in the match with 15 minutes remaining in the first half. In the second half, the Kats gave up ten more shots to the visitors, but few were dangerous, and Senior keeper and co-captain Alan Lopez was equal to the task. Unfortunately, the Kats were not able to create many chances of their own. Junior midfielder Enzo Beber Zamberlan’s shot with just under ten minutes to play at the right side of the penalty box sailed just over the crossbar and would prove to be the best opportunity of the night. The Wildkats (2-4-1, 0-1-0) will have to work on generating more chances in front of goal and finishing those opportunities, and their next opportunity to do so will be Saturday when they return to conference play and make the trip to Richmond to take on Junior Varsity Kats Crush Huskies 3-0 The junior varsity team earned a shutout in defeating the hosts by a score of 3-0 Thursday night. The Wildkats (2-2-0, 1-0-0) were solid and created several opportunities while limiting the hosts to few dangerous shots. Junior center back Linus Janssen played well and helped freshman Sam Mondragon and sophomore Daniil Titov preserve the shutout for the Kats. Sophomore Darious Easton notched two goals on the night while sophomore Javieer Gordon notched the third goal of the night.
