Wildkats Tangle with Second Ranked Panthers, Drop 4-0 Decision

The Kokomo Wildkats hosted non conference foe 2A #2 Park Tudor and lost to the visitors 4-0 Tuesday night. In a physical, direct affair, the Kats got down early and struggled to score the opportunities they created. The Panthers ultimately avenged last season’s upset at the hands of the Kats. In the first half, Kokomo conceded first by fouling in the penalty box which resulted in a Panther penalty kick. Although senior keeper Alan Lopez got hands to the shot, he was not able to stop it, and the Kats went down 1-0 in the sixth minute of play. The Kats struggled to move the ball out of their defensive half, but did create a few opportunities in the first half. Unfortunately, the Kats could not capitalize on those chances, and in the 19th minute, the Kats conceded again. Kokomo went into halftime down 2-0, but still clearly in the game. In the second half, Park Tudor cranked up the pressure, and the Kats struggled to keep the opponent out of the goal. The Panthers notched their third goal of the night in the seventh minute of play. The Kats continued to create some chances off of limited possession but were unable to break down the Panther defense. Kokomo conceded the fourth goal of the night with seven minutes left to play to close out the scoring. The Wildkats (2-3-1, 0-1-0) host non-conference foe Hamilton Heights Thursday evening. Your man of the match is defender Augie Gruber (Jr.). Junior Varsity The junior varsity team (1-2-0, 1-0-0) dropped a 3-1 decision to the Panthers. The Kats were played well between the boxes, but struggled in front of both goals, conceding two goals in the first half and a penalty in the second. Sophomore Darious Easton notched the goal for the Kats.
