Focus and Follow-Through at Fishers

Setting the Tone: 4x200m Relay We opened the meet with the 4x200m relay, and our squad set the tone early. Gracie Yang, Macy Rakestraw, Gage Myers, and MJ McColl combined for a time just one second off the school record—a strong way to start the meet. Big Results in Long Jump Joseph Randolph hit a personal best of 11'0.5" to win his flight. Ivanna Mena took 1st in her flight with a jump of 10'5.5", while Lucas Frederick won his flight with a jump of 9'11.5". Braedyn Booker landed 16'0" to earn 2nd in a highly competitive flight. Isabel de Oca (10'11") placed 2nd, Tyler Lowery (10'2.25") followed in 3rd, and Erik Carter (5'11") also finished 3rd in his flight. Izzy Sargent added a 6'5.5" jump to place 2nd in her flight. Steady Throws in Shot Put Elmer Barber led his flight with a throw of 27'2.5", followed by Austin Jewell (26'11.5") in 2nd and Ethan Lee (23'8") in 4th. Hayze Herron threw 35'11" in Flight 4 to finish 5th. Claire Rowe (14'2.5") took 2nd in her group, while Katy Haverkamp (10'9.25") placed 5th. Mariah Edington threw 16' for 5th, and Aubreanna Fitts recorded 21'9" in her flight. Heat Wins in the 100m Lucas Frederick (15.13), Elmer Barber (15.47), Izzy Sargent (19.33), and Devon Lee (13.10) each won their heats. Gracie Yang (17.34) and Ivanna Mena (17.43) placed 2nd and 3rd in their heat followed by Amelia Van Horn (18.48) and Iris Harlan (18.57) placing 4th and 5th. Adilyne Driver (19.45) and Karsen Huffman (13.59) finished 2nd in their respective heats. Strong Efforts in the 400m Devon Lee led the group with a 2nd-place finish in Heat 4, clocking a new PR of 1:02.83. In Heat 1, Macy Rakestraw (1:27.37) and Gracie Yang (1:28.16) placed 2nd and 3rd, while Amelia Van Horn (1:32.6) and Erik Carter (1:47.55) came in 6th and 7th. Joey Randolph ran a steady 1:15.04 for 4th in Heat 3, and Odin Salinas finished 6th in Heat 2 with a 1:22.81. Heat 4 was tight with Josephy Lowery (1:07.39), Ethan Lytle (1:07.59), and Justin Smith (1:07.60) finishing within milliseconds of each other and placing 6th, 7th, and 8th respectively. Closing with Relays: 4x100m Our top boys’ team of Justin Smith, MJ McColl, Karsen Huffman, and Braedyn Booker ran a smooth 51.83 to take 1st place. The second team—Joshua Smith, Elmer Barber, Gage Myers, and Donovan Davis—placed 4th at 58.81. The third squad—Austin Jewell, Joseph Randolph, Josephy Lowery, and Hayden Humbarger—finished 5th in 59.44. The girls’ team—Brayley Rayl, Maddie Armstrong, Claire Rowe, and Isabel de Oca—closed the day with a strong 1:13.04, earning 2nd place. Looking Ahead: Jim Brown Invitational We return to Fishers this Friday for the Jim Brown Invitational—one of the most competitive meets we’ll see outside the state series. This group continues to compete hard, support one another, and move in the right direction.
