Kats Hold Their Own At McCutcheon

The Kokomo Unified Track & Field team made a serious statement at the 2025 McCutcheon Invitational, stacking up personal records, grabbing event wins, and finishing 4th overall in a loaded field. Field Events Set the Pace In the long jump, Braedyn Booker soared to 18’2” for 2nd place. MJ McColl followed with a solid 16’3”, while Ellie Neuhauser (12’3”) and Izzy Sargent (7’1”) both crushed their previous bests. Dylan Snodgrass, Donovan Davis, and Joseph Randolph also contributed strong jumps. In the shot put, Austin Jewell powered his way to 2nd place with a 26’8.5” toss. Hayze Herron led the group with a personal best of 34’6.5”. Ethan Lee (24’8”), Logan Isaacs (23’5.75”), and Aubreanna Fitts (21’9”) rounded out a deep and steady throwing crew. Sprints Stay Strong Braedyn Booker ran a 12.6 in the 100m to take 4th. Karsen Huffman (13.3), Elmer Barber (15.2), and Josh Smith (14.5) followed with strong efforts. Hayze Herron (14.4), Dylan Snodgrass, Maddie Armstrong (16.0), and Macy Rakestraw (16.3) kept the Kats competitive across all heats. 400m Crew Shows Grit Devon Lee led the way in the 400m with a 1:03. Ethan Lytle hit a season-best 1:06, Justin Smith ran a 1:08, Joseph Randolph ran 1:16 and Macy Rakestraw wrapped up the event with a clean 1:30. Relays Light It Up! The boys’ scoring 4x100 squad — MJ McColl, Justin Smith, Karsen Huffman, and Gage Myers — won their heat in 52 seconds. The exhibition crew — Josh Smith, Elmer Barber, Braedyn Booker, and Donovan Davis — followed with a win in 55.8. The girls’ relay team of Maddie Armstrong, Macy Rakestraw, Claire Rowe, and Ellie Neuhauser took 2nd in 1:13.7.
