Varsity vs Lafayette Jeff Amirah Marciniak drove in four runs on four hits to lead Kokomo Varsity Wildkats past Lafayette Jefferson 18-8 on Thursday. Marciniak tripled in the first scoring two, doubled in the first scoring one, and singled in the fifth scoring one. Lafayette Jefferson were the first to get on the board in the first when one run scored on another play. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring eight runs on seven hits to take the lead, 8-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Lanaya Buckner that drove in two. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Lucy Goad tripled, scoring one run, Hattie Tweed singled, scoring one run, and Spencer Martin singled, scoring two runs. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Goad hit a sacrifice fly, and Tweed singled to center field, each scoring one run. Emma Lees earned the win for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats. The hurler gave up seven hits and eight runs (seven earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking five. Andi Mooney took the loss for Lafayette Jefferson. The reliever went four and one-third innings, giving up 13 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits, striking out one and walking two. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats amassed 18 hits in the game. Buckner, Ava Federspill, Tweed, Goad, and Alaina Thompson each collected multiple hits for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats.
