Varsity vs Tipton Spencer Martin collected three hits in five at bats, as Kokomo Varsity Wildkats defeated Tipton Varsity Blue Devils 11-7 on Tuesday at Tipton High School. Martin singled in the sixth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth inning. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats were the first to get on the board in the first when a wild pitch scored one run. Tipton Varsity Blue Devils jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Makenna Comer doubled down the left field line, Lacey Bitner walked, and Tipton Varsity Blue Devils scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to an error, a single by Emma Lees, and a hit by a pitch. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 9-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Lees that drove in two. Lees earned the win for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats. The starter surrendered five hits and four runs over five innings, striking out three and walking six. Ella Lobeck took the loss for Tipton Varsity Blue Devils. The starter went four and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking none. Lucy Goad appeared in relief for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats tallied 12 hits in the game. Martin and Lees were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats. Lees led Kokomo Varsity Wildkats with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 3-for-5 on the day. Addison Taylor collected two hits for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats in three at bats. Lobeck led Tipton Varsity Blue Devils with two hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Tipton Varsity Blue Devils had patience at the plate, amassing 11 walks for the game. Lobeck, Chidalynn Beach, and Chasity Kelich led the team with two bases on balls each.
