Kokomo High Schools 138-pound junior, Christien Damewood, delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 IHSAA Peru Regional, finishing as the runner-up and securing his spot in the Fort Wayne Semi-State. Damewood showcased his skill and determination throughout the tournament, battling through a tough bracket to reach the finals. Though he fell just short of a regional title, his effort solidified his status as one of the top wrestlers in the area, and he will look to carry that momentum into next weekend's competition. Joining Damewood at Semi-State are 132-pounder X'Avion Ford, 144-pounder Gabe Newland, and 165-pounder Devon Rush, all of whom fought through competitive weight classes to earn their tickets to the next stage. Each displayed resilience and grit, overcoming strong opponents to extend their seasons. As they prepare for Fort Wayne, these Wildkats will look to sharpen their technique and continue their pursuit of a state finals appearance. Saturday also marked the end of the season for several dedicated Kokomo wrestlers, including seniors Sal Alsadiq and Jedaiah Beard, whose hard-fought matches ended in heartbreaking losses. Both left a lasting impact on the program, demonstrating leadership and perseverance throughout their careers. Juniors David Conner and Derrick Ross, along with freshman Aiden Castillo, also put forth valiant efforts but came up short in their bids to advance. While their seasons may be over, their experiences will serve as motivation for the future as they continue to grow and develop in the sport.
