The Lady Kats started Christmas Break at Northeastern High School for a two-day tournament and finished 4th place out of 8 teams. There wasn’t a single team at the tournament that had a losing record. The first game, Kokomo beat Fort Wayne Wayne to move into the winners bracket. The next two teams that Kokomo played had combined records of 27-2. The Lady Kats competed but Northeastern (15-0) and Lafayette Central Catholic (12-2) went on too many runs throughout the games for Kokomo to pull out wins. It was a great tournament and Senior, Ma’Kaela Drake, made All-Tournament Team and freshman, Jhordyn Brown, played great quality minutes scoring a career-high 12 points in a game. Amara Stroman was on fire all weekend from 3 and gave great energy off the bench. Friday night, Kokomo took on Frankton and had a slow start to have a 3-point deficit going into halftime. The Lady Kats shot just 9% from 3 in the first half. The second-half was all Kokomo as we scored 40 points and turned Frankton over 26 times for the game. Satyra Scott led all scorers with 16 points on 7-12 shooting and 5 rebounds. Eliana Stewart added 13 points and 7 steals. Jhordyn Brown contributed 3 steals and Avi Pollard added 8 points and 4 rebounds. Kokomo is back in action Wednesday night at home as they face Northwestern. GO KATS. -coach Haley Peckinpaugh
