On Saturday the Wildkats raced in the Wildcat Classic at IWU. The Kats raced well despite the heat and racing in the blazing sun to place 3rd overall as a team out of 20 teams which is our highest finish in a race over there in my 6 years as coach. It was a great day for us as we had 4 guys in the top 35 which earned them medals. Leading the Kats was Cooper Cage who placed 3rd overall as an individual with a time of 16:48. Following Cooper was Preston Arreola who finished 12th overall with a time of 17:46. Teammate Connor Frederick was next in, as he placed 19th with a time of 18:09 and then Ben Wallace placed 28th with a time of 18:28. Freshman Leo Serra and Owen Downing were next in for the Kats, with junior Trevor Nelson our 7th runner on the day. Overall a great day for our guys and I thought they overall raced well despite the heat. This is our conference course, so we will race here again in a ew weeks, so it was good to get a race on it for our new runners. Our guys have been having good weeks of practice and it is translating on meet day for them. Our next race will be this Saturday as we compete in the Tipton Invitational. We hope to see you there! Go Kats! Coach Ousley
