Lady Kats Race at Taylor University

On Saturday morning the Lady Kats raced in the Taylor University Invite in a muggy race at "The Farm". The Kats placed 12th out of 16 teams, as we raced against some tough teams. 4 of our varsity runners had either a personal best or a season best, so we raced fairly well. Freshman Alaina Thompson continues to have a good start to her Kokomo career as she led the Kats with a PR time of 23:31. Alaina now has three races under her belt and she continues to exhibit growth in her racing strategy each race. Right behind Alaina was Morgan Rakestraw who also ran a PR with a time of 24:11. Morgan continues to race well and she has made major improvements this season. She has a lot more to do, but she is going to continue to excel. Christina Durham also raced well and had a season best time of 26:45, as she continues to improve each week of her season. Junior Claire Callane also had a good day, as she set a season best time of 26:59, which is 79 seconds faster than last week. Claire had a good week working on her form and she followed her race plan well today. Both Claire and Christina are doing well in only their second year running and will continue to get better this season. We are looking forward to a "cooler" week of training, as we prepare to head to Brownsburg this upcoming weekend to race in the Brownsburg Invite. This will be the regional course, so we are hopeful this will be the first of two trips down there for our runners, as one of their goals is to try to qualify for the regional. Race time will be at 8:30am, so we hope to see you there. Go Kats! Coach Ousley
