Kats Place 6th at Jacob Graf Invite

The Wildkats traveled to Logansport to race the challenging Berry Patch in the Jacob Graf Invite on Saturday. The Kats came away with a 6th place finish in the 20 team field. The guys raced well and allowed the race to come to them instead of going out to hard and struggling to finish. Cooper Cage led the Kats with a 15th place with a time of 17:38 in his first varsity race since coming back from injury. Cooper went out with his teammates in a controlled pace and this allowed him to work up some and place well for the Kats. Right behind Cooper was teammate Connor Frederick who placed 18th with a PR time of 17:50. Connor ran a great race today and is looking forward to dropping his time more as the season goes. Right behind Connor in 22nd place was Preston Arreola who set a PR with a time of 18:01. Preston went out at a good pace and was able to maintain it throughout the entire 5K. Ben Wallace was next in for the Kats as he finished in 40th place with a PR time of 18:51. Other runners for the Kats were Gabe Newland, Braxton Frederick, & Trevor Nelson. Overall a good day for our varsity kids and I am excited to see how they continue to improve as the season goes. Our JV Kats also raced well as they finished in 4th place as a team in their race. Freshman Leo Serra and freshman Owen Downing were the top two finishers for the Kats. Leo finished 11th and earned himself a ribbon with a time 21:09, while Owen finished in 19th place with a time of 22:51. This was both guys first cross-country 5k and they both raced smart and both have more to give. Our other runners in the JV race also had solid days and I am excited to see them continue to improve. Our next race is next Saturday as we race in the Taylor University Invite at Taylor University in Upland. Hope to see you there! Go Kats! Coach Ousley
