Lady Kats meet expectations in regional meet

The Lady Kats fell short of qualifying anyone for the state meet, but we met expectations. We were close in two events fairing better than what the seedings suggested. Jhazlyn McKay finished 4th in the 300 hurdles missing the state meet by one position. Jhaz posted a personal best time of 48.31. It incredible that she didn't run in the faster heat but still managed 4th overall. In the same race, Tia Williams finished 12th overall in a time of 49.87PR. It's great to have two 300 hurdlers who can run under 50 seconds. Both young ladies return next season The 4x100 Relay team of Jhazlyn McKay, Tia Williams, Janae Young, Ma'kaela Young-Drake finished in 5th just two spots away from state qualifying. It's amazing that we were able to run a 50.43 considering we lost two runners due to injury. Very proud of their efforts!!! Other performances: 100 meter dash: Ma'kaela Young-Drake 10th 13.43 110 Hurdles: Jhazlyn McKay 9th 17.49 Long Jump: Tia Williams 14th 15' 7" High Jump: Gabby Flowers 16th 4' 8" Extremely proud of the effort put forth by our ladies. They are a little disappointed now, but we will turn those disappoints into success next year! Go Kats! Coach Malone
