Unified Kats take the Lafayette Jeff Invitational

Kokomo (163) vs Laffayette Jeff (118), McCutcheon (93), Harrison (80) The Unified Kats picked up right where they left off after a breaking several records at McCutcheon, putting on another strong showing at the Lafayette Jeff Invitational. McCutcheon Recap Several Kats achieved personal bests at McCutcheon. Freshman Braedyn Booker impressed in long jump with 16'5" and the team’s best jump of the meet. Andrew Barker stole the shot put show, launching a throw of 49'10.5" to shatter the previous record of 47'5" set by Noah Smalley. Terrion Wilson, Dakota Hildman, and Elizabeth Geiselman also notched personal records. Des McDonald won a close 400m race in 57.8 seconds, and Mara Tackett ran a season-best 1:22.45 in the 400m. The highlight, however, belonged to the boys' 4x100m relay team. The team of McColl, McDonald, Huffman, and Barker scorched the track with a new school record of 49.77 seconds. Lafayette Jeff Success The Kats continued their momentum at Lafayette Jeff. MJ McColl jumped to a personal best of 18'1" in the long jump, taking first in his flight. Dishita Sood (11'8") and Devon Lee (11'10") also won their long jump flights. Ethan Lee launched a personal best throw in shot put (24'9"). Josh Smith celebrated his birthday with a victory and personal best time of 15.36 seconds in the 100m. Des McDonald remained dominant, winning the 400m in 58.05 seconds. Andrew Guerre and Hayden Moore showed strong endurance in the 800m, with Andrew winning his heat (1:09.55) and Hayden finishing a close second (1:09.89). The boys' 4x100m relay team continued their record-breaking streak, clocking an even faster time of 49.13 seconds. Other notable performances came from Macy Rakestraw, Kylah Moore, Gracie Yang, and Erik Carter in the 400m, and Amelia VanHorn, Dishita Sood, Taylor Belzer, Claire Rowe, and Aulbany Farmer in the 100m. We head to the Western Invitational this Wednesday (5/1) to compete and then onto Fort Wayne to compete against 16 other schools at the North Side Unified Relays!
