Varsity vs Frankfort (11 - 6) Win The Friday night matchup between the Kats and Dogs was moved to Municipal because it was raining Kats and Dogs! Ethan Merrell took the mound as a Freshman and his first outing did not go as expected, Ethan pitched one inning in the start while strongly striking out two batters but he had a hard time hitting the zone and walked four. Logan Dockemeyer took the call in relief with the bases crowded, giving up a walk and two hits and the Kats were down 6-3. Dockemeyer went four more strong innings cutting up the Hot Dogs without a hit and stiking out six to get the WIN for the night. Our offensive was explosive. Down 6-3, we were able inch back in the third inning with a sacrafice fly from Ethan Merrell scoring Isaac Flamino. The explosion came in the fifth with a JJ Gillispie homerun to left with nobody on. The momentum shifted and the Kats took off. Flamino and Merrell found their way on base and David Conner singled driving in Flamino to tie the ball game. Ben Carey stepped up to the plate next and singled on a hard hit ball and scored both Merrell and Conner to put the Kats up by 2. Chad Washburn smashes a triple later in the inning to score Ben Carey and Buddy Love. The Kats score 6 in the inning and were up 10-6. In the 6th, Freshman Eli Roe was able to touch home plate while serving as a courtesy runner and putting final run on the board making it 11-6. Defensively the Kats played well under the wet circumstances. The energy was up and the Kats were resilient in sub par conditions. Next game is at Logansport on Tuesday. Go Kats!
