Girls Swimming 2024 Sectional Finals Relay Results Morgan Rakestraw, Milla Hawkins, Aubrey Simmons, and Maddie Armstrong started our day with a 4th place finish & a season PR in the 200 Medley Relay (2:00.87). Later in the meet, the same relay team earned a 3rd place finish in the 200 Free Relay (1:45.96). Our 400 Free Relay team of Taylor Belzer, Grace Lake, Izzy DeWeese, and Alyssa Frederick dropped an impressive 18 seconds off their preliminary time to place 10th in the 400 Free Relay (4:35.03). Individual Results Alyssa Frederick finished in 13th place with a PR (2:14.47) in the 200 Freestyle and 15th in the 500 Freestyle (6:02.20). The 200 IM featured two Katfish swimmers. Maddie Armstrong finished 13th with a time of 2:36.65, and Morgan Rakestraw in 11th place with a PR of 2:31.81. In addition to IM, Morgan Rakestraw finished 13th in the 100 Fly (1:10.11). Milla Hawkins finished 8th in the 100 Freestyle (56.28) and 11th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:16.88). Aubrey Simmons took 2nd place in the 50 Freestyle (23.74) and in the 100 Backstroke (55.39). Simmons set new Kokomo High School records (previously set by her), and punched her ticket to the state finals in both events! Aside from relays, swimming on Sectional Saturday was a new experience for three of my athletes that competed today. Seeing these girls put in so much work at practice each day only makes their success all the more special. I’m incredibly proud of my girls team and how everyone pushed themselves both mentally and physically today. Last season the Katfish finished 7th overall… This year we moved up three spots to earn a 4th place finish! On Friday February 9th, Aubrey Simmons will compete in the IHSAA Girls State Swimming Finals at IUPUI for the third time in three years. Proud to be a Katfish! - Coach Whiteman
