The Lady Kats slow start propelled McCutcheon to the win Friday night. Right now, we are going through the sickness/injury bug with 4 Varsity players out, which includes 2 starters. This stretch will make us deeper in the long run and help us win games down the stretch. The Lady Kats fought back from a 16-0 start to within 8 during the 4th quarter. They played with a lot of heart and grit and really showed a lot of growth as a program. Our second half was one of the best we have seen all season thus far. Aijia Elliott had a terrific night leading all scorers with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Amara Stroman and Ma’Kaela Drake both contributed 7 points as well. Defensively, we had some Lady Kats with a really big job guarding one of the top players in the state. Shoutout to Regan McClain, Eliana Stewart, Ma’Kaela Drake and Indiria Faison taking on the challenge. Even though we had two losses this week, we grew as a team and that’s what it’s all about. It will help us when it matters in the post-season. We’re back in action Tuesday against 3A #1 Hamilton Heights. GO KATS. -coach Haley peckinpaugh
