Varsity vs Richmond (85 - 90) Loss Saturday morning the Katfish traveled all the way to Richmond, IN to take on the Red Devils. Despite being short-handed, the Katfish put up one heck of a fight and left with many positives! But ultimately diving was the difference as the Katfish fell to Richmond 85 - 90. First place finishes include: Quadruple winners Milla Hawkins (200 Medley Relay, 100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 400 Freestyle Relay) and Aubrey Simmons (200 Medley Relay, 50 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke - setting Richmond’s Pool Record for the event :58.68, 400 Freestyle Relay). Triple winners Morgan Rakestraw (200 Medley Relay, 200 IM, 100 Fly) and Alyssa Frederick (200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 400 Free Relay). Double winner Maddie Armstrong (200 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay). Early December has been notorious for illness on the team, with that being said I’m incredibly proud of how the team responded and filled in when needed. All in all, we had some great races and showed a ton of heart with many athletes in events they typically wouldn’t swim. Maddie Armstrong, Matilda Stout, Izzy DeWeese all snagged a third place finish in their respective events, Milo Nevarez & Addy Burdick helped round out a few relays, Ellie Geiselman scored points for us in her first 100 Breaststroke, and Mikaia Buckner pushed far beyond her comfort zone (leaving absolutely everything in the pool) in her first 200 Freestyle and 100 Fly. I couldn’t be any more proud of this girls team for their ability to overcome adversity and put in the hard work… now if we could only get healthy. The Katfish are back in action Wednesday, December 6th hosting the Marion Giants, meet starts 5:30pm. Go Katfish! - Coach Whiteman
