The Kokomo Wildcats hosted the Lebanon Tigers in a non-conference clash on Saturday and fell to the visitors by a score of 4-1 in a game that was choppy and uneven, and also fairly physical. The Kats were fortunate not to concede in the first half behind several excellent saves by senior goalkeeper Ethan Landrum. At halftime, the contest was still in doubt as the teams were tied 0-0. In the second half, the Kats conceded off of a free kick in the opening minute, but then responded eight minutes later when senior winger Braedyn Booker sent a free kick across the box from the right side and senior winger, Nathan Lay headed home a great goal to tie the game at 1-1. With 30 minutes left in the game, the Kats were in the game, but unfortunately, it was not to be. After a brilliant penalty kick save by Landrum, Lebanon responded by scoring off of a corner kick to make the score 2-1. Lebanon closed out the scoring by heading a cross into the goal for their third goal of the day, and scored a close range goal in the closing 15 minutes to make the final score 4-1. The Wildkats travel to Carroll on Tuesday and finish with a makeup game Saturday at Logansport before opening the state tournament at McCutcheon. Kokomo drew Lebanon in the opening round of sectionals. In the JV match, the Kats played a scrappy game and came out with a 1-1 tie. Freshman midfielder Beckham Rayl scored a penalty kick late in second half. In the last two games, Rayl has scored to secure a victory or a tie with a final goal. The junior varsity team finished their season with a record of 7-2-2.
