The Kokomo Wildkats concluded conference play against the Marion Giants but came up short, dropping the match by a score of 2-0. The Kats played well, though, battling the Giants to a 0-0 stalemate at half-time. The Wildkats thwarted the Giants’ attacks and looked to create a few of their own. Senior midfielder, Gael Cordero, your man of the match, man-marked the host’s most dangerous attacking player in the game, holding him off the score sheet and effectively shut him out of the game. 
Senior goalkeeper, Ethan Landrum, with the help of a stalwart defense lead by sophomore Rodrigo Camino, stymied the Giants in the first half, and senior winger, Brayden Booker, was dangerous, crossing the ball into the box and creating opportunities for the Wildkat attack. In the second half, the Wildkats continued to create chances with junior winger, Pedro Figueroa Alonzo, and senior striker, Jaden Colescott, putting several shots on frame. However, the Kats could not crack the Giant defense, and the Giants scored two late goals on free kicks to earn the victory. 
In the JV match, the Kats jumped out to a 1-0 lead when freshman Girum Gruber headed junior Javieer Gordon’s corner kick past the Giant keeper. After the Giants tied the game twice, freshman midfielder Beckham Rayl scored the game winner from 22 yards out on a beautiful shot that sailed over the hands of the keeper with less than a minute to play. The JV team has dropped only one match this season. Both teams visit the Harrison Raiders on Wednesday night and conclude the week by hosting Lebanon.
