The Kokomo Wildkats visited Logansport Tuesday evening, but severe weather forced the Kats to postpone the varsity match. In the junior varsity match, the Kats played tough. Sophomore goalkeeper Sam Escutia Mondragon made two point blank saves going one versus one to preserve the 0-0 deadlock through halftime. In the second half, the Kats looked a bit sharper and took a 1-0 lead off of junior forward Javieer Gordon’s looping 35 yard shot over the outstretched hands of the Berries’ goalkeeper. With under 15 minutes left in the match, the Kats looked to lock up another win on their bright season. However, the Berries would not go away. With less than 10 minutes left in the game, the Berries took a shot from the right side of the Wildkat goal, and a Wildkat defender handled the ball in the box. The Berries scored on the ensuing penalty kick, and salvaged a 1-1 tie. Your man of the junior varsity match is freshman midfielder Girum Gruber. The varsity match may be rescheduled later this week.
