Lady Kats Overcome Early Deficit to Claim Thrilling 2-1 Conference Win Over Logansport

By Elizabeth Rayl | Sep 15, 2026 9:24 PM

Showing steady resolve and high-octane energy on a warm September evening, the Lady Kats bounced back from a swift opening-minute setback to secure a hard-earned 2-1 conference victory over the Logansport Berries on Tuesday night. Logansport caught the Kats off guard with a quick goal just 60 seconds into the match, but the early wake-up call only ignited the Lady Kats' competitive spirit. Pushing back with crisp combination plays and sustained passing sequences through the middle, the Kats dominated possession for the remainder of the half. The relentless pressure paid off with 15 minutes left in the opening period. Ana De Fazio set up Mattie Rayl with a smooth tap pass, allowing Rayl to unleash a clean strike into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the break. The Lady Kats carried that same aggressive, passionate tempo straight into the second half, continually pressuring the Berries' backline and generating multiple quality looks on frame. The game-winning moment arrived in the 65th minute. Taking space outside the box, De Fazio launched a brilliant, soaring strike from the 18-yard line that arched perfectly over the keeper’s outstretched hands and into the net. Defensively, the Lady Kats clamped down to preserve the lead, powered by a stellar performance in goal from Bella Steele, who came up with several critical, high-clutch saves to keep Logansport at bay as temperatures rose. It was a total team effort as players across the roster stepped up to deliver a memorable home victory. Up Next. The Lady Kats look to keep their winning momentum going on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they host Anderson for another key conference showdown.
