Mavericks Stampede, Defeat Kats 3-0

In a game where the Kats had to defend, work together, and play without possession of the ball for long stretches, McCutcheon proved to be a difficult opponent. Nevertheless, the Kats played valiantly, especially in the first half when they limited the Mavericks to one goal. Senior goalkeeper, Ethan Landrum, made save after save after save to keep the Kats close. On several occasions, Landrum fully extended and parried the ball wide to keep the Mavericks from scoring. Kokomo was able to create a few chances, though. Senior winger, Nathan Lay, proved to be the most dangerous player in terms of creating chances going forward on the left flank. Going into the half down 1-0, the Kats were in it. The team struggled to slow down McCutcheon's attack in the second half, though, and conceded two relatively quick goals in the 8th and 14th minutes, allowing the deficit to grow to 3-0. Nevertheless, the players competed to the final whistle, and will reflect on their performance and move forward--quickly--as they host conference foe, Lafayette, Jeff, on Thursday night for Senior Night. The man of the match is undoubtedly senior Ethan Landrum, who recorded 12 saves in the game to keep the Kats close. Kokomo Men's Soccer will recognize its senior class in between the junior varsity and varsity games Thursday night.
