Kats Race at Conference

By Jordan Ousley | Oct 1, 2023 10:59 AM

On Saturday the Kats raced in the NCC Championships and did very well. We placed 8th in a very fast and competitive meet that saw miss placing 7th by just two points. The boys overall raced well with 5 of our runners setting new personal best. Cooper Cage led the Kats as he placed 10th overall, earning all NCC honors, in a PR time of 16:43. Cooper ran a great race which saw the 1st mile go out extremely fast, but he was able to maintain and not lose any ground, as he stayed in the top 10 all race. Cooper is having a great first year running cross-country and is hitting his stride at the most important time of the season. Also setting PR's were Ben Wallace(19:26), Preston Arreola(19:44), Gabe Newland(20:09), & Ethan Lytle(22:06). While Connor Frederick did not PR he set a new course PR for himself improving by 10 seconds from his time on this course a month ago. The Kats are continuing to work hard each week and the results are paying off virtually every race. We will have the week off from racing, as we mentally focus in on the sectional championships on October 14th. We still have some work to do, so the next two weeks will be spent making sure we stay on track and work on the areas of need. The Kats will be racing sectionals at the all too familiar Berry Patch in Logansport, so they know the course well and will be ready to race in the postseason! Go KATS!! Coach Ousley
