Lady Kats Race at NCC
By Jordan Ousley | Oct 1, 2023 10:50 AM
The Lady Kats competed in the NCC championships on Saturday and raced well. We were down two girls, so we were unable to run a full squad, but the girls who ran did great. Gretchen Riggle led the Kats as she raced to a time of 24:37, which is a 40 second PR for her. Gretchen has had a great last month of training and the last two weeks she has started to kick it in high gear and started racing with more purpose. She ran a smart and gutsy race on Saturday that led her to setting her new best time. Morgan Rakestraw was next in for the Kats as she rebounded from her last race to get back to normal this week, as she raced to a 25:45. Claire Callane was our third runner in the varsity race and she raced extremely well, as she dropped 33 seconds of her best time to set a new PR of 25:56. Claire has been steadily improving each week and racing better as a result. In the JV race sophomores Grace Lake and Maddie Armstrong raced efficiently, as Grace ran a new PR of 31:42 and Maddie tied her PR with a time of 33:38. I am proud of all of these ladies for their performances on Saturday. We will have a week off of racing this Saturday, as our next race will be the IHSAA Sectionals on October 14th in Logansport. The next two weeks will be important for the Kats mentally as we focus in on the postseason, while also continuing to physically work towards to their racing goals. They are peaking at the right time and we hope to continue that in the sectionals. Go KATS!! Coach Ousley
