Varsity Football vs. Marion

The Wildkats traveled to Marion last Friday night and had to tough out a win. We were led by a solid defensive effort again and a pretty balanced night on offense. Rondell Greene and Laquan Gray both played the whole game on offense getting their first reps at running back all season. They combined for 105 yards total and blocked well for each other to give our team enough effort to score 5 times. Defensively we finished the night with 3 sacks and 3 interceptions that proved to be enough to holding our opponent to only 20 points. Offensively we were led by Reis Beard who finished the night with 100 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns and 89 yards through the air with a score to Andrew Barker. JJ Gillispie also added a nice catch for 16 yards. Laquan Grey earned his first start on Friday and had 12 carries for 48 hard yards. I am super proud of him and everything he has battled through the past few years. Defensively we were led by Khairi Floyd with 10 tackles. We finished the night with 7 tackles for a loss 3 sacks and 3 interceptions. The Wreck-N-Crew defense only allowed 152 yards from an explosive Marion offense. I was very proud of our effort and hope it continues into the last 3rd of our regular season. Thank you for all support at Marion. We hope to see everyone this week in Lafayette as we square up with McCutcheon High School. Go Kats!
