Your VolleyKats traveled to Chesterton on Saturday for a very competitive tournament and finished 5th going 2-2. In pool play, Kokomo faced South Bend Washington and won in two sets, then took on the host Chesterton and lost in three sets. Chesterton ended up winning the entire tournament and going 4-0. We grew a lot in that match and show true growth taking a set on them, but their size advantage was too much for us. In the afternoon, we beat Portage 2-0 and then faced an extremely talented Marquette Catholic team. We took Marquette Catholic to 3 but ultimately came up short in the end. Regan McClain and Helen Qiu played bigger than their size all day and really competed. Last year, we finished 7th at Chesterton, so finishing 5th was an improvement for us against very good competition. We’re back in action Monday at Peru, then Thursday at home against Tipton.
