Saturday morning the Lady Kats raced in the Wildcat Classic at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion. The girls took advantage of ideal race conditions, as the raced to several PR’s and came in 13th out of 14 teams. The girls continue to work hard and are starting to see their work pay off in meets. Four of our runners set big PRs on Saturday led by sophomore Morgan Rakestraw who raced to a PR of 25:09, which is a 83 second PR from last weeks race. Morgan is really embracing the sport and she is starting to figure out how to race effectively, which is going to continue to pay off for her each week. Our other varsity runners who set a PR were Gretchen Riggle (25:17), Christina Durham (25:51), & Claire Callane (26:29). Gretchen dropped 38 seconds, Christina dropped 42 seconds, while Claire dropped 52 seconds. I am happy with how our girls are coming along, as they navigate this season together. Morgan, Claire, & Christina are brand new to the sport and they are just going to continue to race well, as they gain more experience. In the JV race both Grace Lake and Maddie Armstrong set PRs, as they raced to times of 31:48 & 33:37 respectively. Our next race is September 16th, as we make the trek up north to the New Prairie Invite. Wish the Kats well this week when you see them. GO KATS!
