On Saturday morning the Wildkats competed in the Wildcat Classic at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion. The temperatures were ideal and helped propel the Kats to several personal bests. As a result, the Kats placed 11th in the “Grey Race” out of 21 teams. Last year we placed 19th in the same race, so we have made some great strides in just one years’ time. For your Kats sophomore Cooper Cage led our effort, as he came in 4th place with a PR time of 16:57. This is the first time for Cooper to run sub-17, so we are happy with reaching that milestone and hope to continue to build on it. Next in for the Kats was Connor Frederick who continues to drop time, as he raced to a PR of 18:22. I am happy for Connor as he continues to PR on every course this year compared to last year. He is racing very well and continues to improve each week. Other PR times for the Kats were Ben Wallace (19:43), Preston Arreola (20:02), Gabe Newland (20:32), Braxton Frederick (20:49), Adam Kemper (23:00), & Ethan Lytle (23:30). Our runners are starting to really race well and as a result they are seeing their times and placings drop, which helps our team score and placement. Our next race is September 16th, as we make the trek up north to the New Prairie Invite. Wish the Kats well this week when you see them. GO KATS! Coach Jordan Ousley
