The 2026 LadyKats softball team fell in their season opener Wednesday night against the Tipton Blue Devils, 21-4. Despite the score, there were tremendous feats happening all over the field. Offensively, the Lady Kats came out swinging! After a tough defensive start, the girls fought right back and scored two runs in the bottom half of the first inning. The girls were fearless at the plate. Lucy Goad got things started with a hard base hit to lead off the inning. Two batters later, stepping to the plate for the first time in her career, Shau’nea Myers doubled to right field. In true teamwork fashion, Nadiya Bennett hit a two-out single to score Lucy and Shau’nea. Lucy led the way offensively for the Kats going 2-3 with a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored. In all, seven players recorded a hit; six of which were the players’ first varsity contest. Congratulations to Jordynn Dupay, Nadiya Bennett, Shau’nea Myers, Shau’nia Myers, Ashlynne Hodson, and Javaiha Harvard on your first VARSITY hit! Other notable accomplishments: Haleigh Perkins recorded her first varsity RBI, Jakelle Price executed a perfect sacrifice bunt, and Makya Anderson got her first start as a varsity softball player. On the mound, Jordynn had great command all night. She showed tremendous leadership out there and maintained her composure the entire game. Jordynn delivered a very gritty performance for the KATS with 8 strikeouts in 5 innings. The softball team is back in action Thursday evening when they take on the Eastern Comets Thursday night @ 5:30 PM.
