Wildkats Battle to the Final Buzzer in Sectional Championship Kokomo fought until the final seconds Saturday night in the Class 4A Sectional 7 Championship, falling to Harrison 59–56 after a hard-fought game. The Wildkats trailed by as many as 16 points in the second quarter but got a spark from the bench when Kimoni Wright converted an old-fashioned three-point play and Josaphat Kanyinda followed with a steal and dunk to help close the gap heading into halftime. Kokomo continued to battle in the second half. Trailing 46–40 entering the fourth quarter, the Wildkats mounted a strong push behind Korbyn Hammel, Caleb Taflinger, and Jamael Cosley. Hammel hit a key three and Taflinger knocked down two clutch threes late, finishing with a career-high 11 points. Hammel led Kokomo with 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while Austin Moos added 12 points. The Wildkats closed the season 18–7, showing the toughness, defensive intensity, and fight that defined the team throughout the year. With several key players returning next season, Kokomo looks to build on the momentum moving forward.
