Wildkats Advance to Sectional Championship “Five guys playing as one.” That’s how anyone at the game would describe the Wildkats’ effort Friday night as they defeated Lafayette Jeff 46–33 to advance to the Class 4A Sectional 7 Championship. Kokomo delivered one of its best defensive performances of the season, holding a high-powered Broncho offense to just 33 points and limiting them to 5-of-24 shooting from three-point range. The Wildkats also controlled the glass, outrebounding Jeff 24–18. Korbyn Hammel led Kokomo with 14 points, moving into 7th place on the school’s all-time scoring list (1,171 points). Austin Moos added 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while Caleb Taflinger matched his career high with 10 points and seven rebounds. Jamaal Cosley grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and went 5-of-6 from the free throw line, helping Kokomo finish 9–0 at the line. Despite a short rotation, the Wildkats’ starting five played with relentless energy and chemistry on both ends of the floor. With the win, Kokomo (18–6) advances to face Harrison in the Sectional 7 Championship.
