The Lady Wildkats traveled to Lafayette to race in the Harrison Invitational on Saturday and came away with good results. We had 4 runners in the varsity and 3 in the junior varsity race and all 7 girls raced to a personal best or season best. Our varsity runners have been pack running at practice and working together and it is starting to pay off on Saturdays. Morgan Rakestraw, Gretchen Riggle, & Christina Durham all raced together and worked together well on Saturday, and they all came in one right after the other in the race. Morgan was the first one in as she raced to a time of 26:32, which is a 48 second PR for her. Gretchen & Christina came in right after Morgan as they both ran a 26:33, which is a season best for Gretchen and a 90 second PR for Christina! Our 4th runner was Claire Callane who was competing in her first varsity 5k, as she returned from an injury and she finished with a time of 27:21, which is a solid time for her first 5k race. She is going to continue to improve as she gets more races under her belt. In the JV race Leo de Bettignies ran a 28:41, Grace Lake ran a 32:36, & Maddie Armstrong ran a 36:14, as they all set a new PR. These girls are doing a great job and I love seeing them work together and show improvement week after week. We will keep working to get better and our next opportunity is Saturday, September 9th, as we race in the Wildcat Class at IWU in Marion. GO KATS!! Coach Ousley
