Girls (98 - 85) Loss Wednesday night the Katfish traveled up to Walton, Indiana to compete against the Lewis Cass Kings in their first of two back-to-back meets. The Katfish had a strong showing and some great races, but ultimately fell to the Kings 98 - 85. First place finishes include: Emma Di Stefano, Shanna Fowler, Maddie Armstrong, and Alyssa Frederick in the 200 Medley Relay; Morgan Rakestraw in the 100 Freestyle; Alyssa Frederick in the 500 Freestyle; and double-winners Maddie Armstrong in the 200 IM & 100 Backstroke and Shanna Fowler in the 100 Fly & 100 Breaststroke. We knew going into this meet that it was going to be a dog fight! Lewis Cass is a good team and has some depth, in addition to three divers… so we knew we’d be down 13 points from the start but the Katfish persevered. Our ladies raced their hearts out, unfortunately couldn’t bring home the win. Regardless, exciting meets like this are what swimming is all about, the energy is unlike anything else. We have a lot of things to be excited about and tons of positive takeaways… rookie seniors Teagan Dalton & Emiliye Mendoza both got to show-off their new and improved starts, Gretchen Riggle, Jara Loboda, and Emma Di Stefano had some impressive second place finishes, and rookie sophomore Averie Stiner completed her first 500 Freestyle (in under 10 minutes & did all of her flipturns!). The Katfish are back in action at home tomorrow for senior night against Oak Hill at 6pm! Go Katfish! -Coach Whiteman
