Boys: Third Place (192 points scored) Saturday morning the Katfish traveled to Lafayette Jefferson High School to compete in the annual North Central Conference Swim Meet. After almost a month without a meet and a practice-filled winter break, the Katfish were ready to see their hard work pay off! Our boys team finished in 3rd place, while scoring 192 points, improving two spots from a 5th place finish last season. Top boys relay performances include: Carter McClain, Zavier Larmer, Tae Ow Kanayama, and Oliver Taskey with an incredible first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Top boys individual performers include: Tae Ow Kanayama placed second in the 100 Butterfly and fifth in the 200 IM. Zavier Larmer placed third in the 100 Breaststoke, Oliver Taskey placed 5th in both the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke, Carter McClain placed fifth in the 100 Backstroke, and Phenix Bray placed sixth in the 50 Free. Overall, I’m pleased with our performance Saturday afternoon. We had some excellent swims with plenty of time drops across the board and athletes pushing themselves to the brink. Each swimmer had a goal or two going into the meet, and many of them were able to rise to the occasion and beyond. I’m excited to see how our team handles this busy two-week stretch of meets & practices. The Katfish are back at it on Wednesday, January 14th, at Lewis Cass! Go Katfish! Coach Whiteman
