Lady Kats Fall in Heartbreaker to No. 12 Alexandria-Monroe, 37–35 Kokomo battled to the final buzzer in a tough 37–35 loss to 16-2 Class 2A No. 12 Alexandria-Monroe, leading for the majority of the game and showcasing strong growth on both ends of the floor. The Lady Kats played an outstanding first half, fueled by unselfish offense, strong transition play, and disciplined defense. Senior Amara Stroman knocked down multiple tough shots late in the half to help build an 8-point halftime lead. Kokomo took care of the basketball and applied consistent defensive pressure, forcing 14 Alexandria turnovers in the first half as defense led directly to offense. In the second half, Alexandria’s defensive pressure and relentless rebounding created second-chance opportunities that shifted momentum late. Kokomo still held the lead with 22 seconds remaining, but turnovers and missed layups proved to be the difference down the stretch. Late-game execution and shot selection allowed Alexandria to capitalize and escape with the win. Eliana Stewart led the Lady Kats with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Amara Stroman shot 50% from three, finishing with 7 points and 2 steals. Satyra Scott was a defensive force all night, posting a career- and season-high 9 steals, along with 7 points and 3 assists. Off the bench, Akiera Huntsman delivered a strong performance, shooting 75%, and contributing 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals in her first reserve appearance of the season. Kokomo (7-10) looks to respond immediately as the Lady Kats travel to Northwestern tonight for a varsity-only contest at 6:30 PM. GO KATS.
